Yoga Therapy for Sleep & Insomnia with Monya Cohen, PsyD, C-IAYT

In-Studio and Online
Sunday, August 3 | 2:00-3:30pm

This workshop is one of a 4-part series Therapeutic Yoga Series: Steady, Strong, and Balanced.

Sleep is an essential process that allows your body and brain to rest, and to repair and restore cells and muscles in the body. Quality sleep (the number of uninterrupted hours of sleep) is as vital as food and water, impacting almost every organ in the body including the brain, heart and lungs, as well as immune function and mood stability.

Sleep helps with many brain functions, including removing toxins in the brain that build up while you are awake. Quality sleep is necessary for brain cells to effectively communicate.

Yoga therapy has been shown to significantly improve sleep quality by promoting relaxation and reducing stress. But not all yoga postures and practices are created equal. This workshop will incorporate gentle and accessible yoga movements and postures that facilitate relaxation, with a primary focus on the practice of iRest Yoga Nidra: a guided sleep-like meditation that focuses on intention, life’s purpose, creating an inner resource and body and breath sensing. Each of the participants will also receive a luxurious foot mask during the extended savasana!

Bolsters, blankets and blocks may be used to enable maximum comfort during the Yoga Nidra; at-home participants should have these or pillows, cushions or large towels available, or may choose to conclude the practice from a bed!

Cost: $29 by July 25; $35 as of July 26 and beyond -OR-
Take all 4 sessions in the Steady, Strong and Balanced series:
$99 by Jul 31; $110 as of Aug 1

Offered In-Studio AND Online, with Recording Option available thru 8/5, Tuesday night.
