Classes for Beginners
Starting a yoga practice can be intimidating enough — it’s even more so when everyone else in the room has been doing yoga for years! At HYC, we are proud to offer several classes that are explicitly intended for beginners or beginner-appropriate, so you can start your yoga journey with a strong foundation in a supportive, judgment-free space, and learn the basics alongside other newbies!

Yin Yoga is a practice that strategically tractions the joints in the body’s core to help reverse the damage caused by aging, gravity and poor postural alignment. This series offers a weekly tune up to undo that damage, and unwind the mind and spirit as well, while receiving (optional) Reiki assists to further promote healing. Please note: no class on Dec 28 or Jan 4.
Qigong is a gentle yet powerful way to address stress, enhance blood, oxygen and lymphatic flow, calm the mind and soothe the nervous system. It combines gentle movement, breathing techniques, meditation, and self-massage to reduce stress and improve mental focus.
Align & Attune is your Monday evening Reset & Restore! Join Carrie to find balance in your mind and body through movement and stillness, sounds and silence. This class will include approx. 45 minutes of Hatha Yoga and 30 minutes of Restorative Yoga & Savasana, with meditative elements incorporated throughout, and a brief sound bath offered during the time spent in stillness.
This beginner-friendly yoga session is designed for parents and babies who are 6 weeks to one year old. The class will have options to incorporate your baby in the poses and movements, or your baby can practice tummy time. Stretching and relaxation will be a part of every class.
This rejuvenating and accessible prenatal vinyasa practice is suitable for students in all three trimesters, for both beginners and more experienced yoga practitioners. Bond with your baby, connect with others who are pregnant, and prepare for parenthood!
This moderately paced class is a grounding and rejuvenating practice designed specifically with school teachers in mind, but appropriate for beginners and anyone wishing to release stress and tension, and experience peace and calm. Keep your body safe and stay aligned with your purpose and passion, to help you navigate life’s joys and challenges!
Vinyasa “Flow” Yoga is a practice of breath-initiated, fluid movements which are linked together and sequenced to open the body in safe and gradual stages. This 8-week introductory series offers participants a mindful approach that integrates movement with breath in controlled sequences to help build strength, flexibility, and alignment. Classes will focus on the fundamentals of the poses, and basic yoga concepts to help practitioners mindfully release burdens as they build insight into daily life.
Begin or deepen your practice with curiosity and care! Join fellow beginners in a supportive and welcoming space. Explore movement, breathwork and stillness through accessible techniques that prioritize safety & comfort and help you feel more connected, balanced and at ease.
