Grounded Awareness thru the Koshas with Charlene and Monya
Sunday, April 19 | 11am-12:30pm
This gentle, restorative yoga therapy workshop will utilize the structure of the Koshas to explore the intimate connection between the breath, the nervous system, and the mind.
The word Kosha literally means “sheath" in Sanskrit. Yoga teaches that we each have five Koshas, or layers of being: from our outermost physical layer, to more subtle energetic and mental layers, to our innermost layer of spirit or our soul. For this session, Manamaya Kosha (the third, mental layer) and Anamaya Kosha (the physical body) will serve as a roadmap towards self-discovery and gaining self-knowledge.
This workshop will begin with grounding and centering practices that awaken awareness of the breath as a stabilizing force for mental clarity and calm. A mindful chair or mat yoga sequence will follow, embodying the principle of the koshas to cultivate compassion and respect for the physical body through easeful movement. The session concludes with a deeply relaxing Yoga Nidra practice to integrate mind, body, and spirit—leaving participants feeling balanced, centered, and nourished from within.
